HISTORY

A collective entity comprised of billions of tiny "puffballs", the so-called Puffball Collective absorbed sustinence to survive. In doing so, the collective would not only obtain food, but actually increase the intelligence of the collective.

Shortly after the so-called Crisis on Infinite Earths, Green Lantern TO-T-U-K had been retired after three thousand years of service. TO-T-U-K had suceeded AR-N-O-Q, and as AR-N-O-Q had done three thousand years before, TO-T-U-K would also pass on his duties to the next worthy being.

The Guardians of the Universe sent the Green Lantern to an unnamed planet in the fifth sector of the globular cluster known as Valstan C5. There, he was told he would find one that would have the qualities of a member of the Corps.

After many useless scans of the planet, Lantern TO-T-U-K realized the intelligent life form was the Collective, its mind spread across the entire globe. However, the Puffballs did not have the intelligence to wield the power ring. TO-T-U-K decided he would join the Collective, which would absorb his intelligence, memories, and willpower.

The resulting action changed the Puffball Collective into an entity comprised of billions of Puffballs, each with the power of a Green Lantern. The Collective's sector is now one of the safest in the universe. - Green Lantern Corps Annual #3

Presumably, the Collective's power rings were disintegrated during the collapse of the Central Power Battery following the execution of Sinestro.

The Collective once more wields the emerald energy with the most recent restoration of the Green Lantern Corps.

POWERS AND WEAPONS

As a Green Lantern, the Puffball Collective possesses a power ring and power battery, however it is not known if each puffball wields a ring or somehow shares the power.
