- The flashback occurs during Lex Luthor's presidency, during the brief period when Luthor was aware of Superman's identity.
Synopsis: - Several months ago, when Luthor and Ross were president and vice-president, Luthor passed on some top-secret information to his v.p. - Superman's identity as Pete Ross' childhood friend Clark Kent. Now, Lois Lane is investigating the circumstances of her shooting in Umec - they were officially no snipers in the vicinity, and Superman's arrival on the scene brought about a sudden end to hostilities. Whoever shot her was manipulating Superman to end the conflict, but Lois has no idea who this person was. At the Shack, Jimmy Olsen meets reporter Geraldine Frank, but their conversation is interrupted by Ruin, who attacks Olsen and comes under fire himself from the Special Crimes Unit. Unfortunately, the weaponry that Professor Hamilton provided them with does not slow Ruin down, but recharges him. When Superman arrives on the scene, he injures Ruin and causes him to flee. Jimmy is taken to hospital, Clark learns that Lana Lang is planning to divorce Pete Ross, and when he returns home, Lois says they should think about having a child.
