HISTORY

After his homeworld's military expedition to Xanshi was defeated by Reever, that world's Green Lantern, archivist Arkkis Chummuck discovered the enemies' weakness.

Arkkis Chummuck falsified records to gain the use of a spaceship to lure the Green Lantern into battle. Wearing yellow power armor, he was able to defeat the Green Lantern, unintentionally mortally wounding the Green Lantern.

As his death approached, Reever was obligated to pass on his ring to a worthy successor. The ring had selected Arkkis Chummuck. As is his race's custom, Arkkis Chummuck ate the remains of his honored enemy. - Green Lantern Vol. 2 #130/2

Arkkis Chummuck charged his power ring, and cut through the hull of his ship. He flew to the center of the sun, and found himself reborn.

As a Green Lantern, Arkkis Chummuck returned to his homeworld. Toomey VI's ruler, "The Foremost", offered to forget the lowly clerk's theft of the starship, if he agreed to surrender the power ring. When Chummuck refused, he was ordered killed.

When it became apparant that as a Green Lantern he was invulnerable from their attacks, the leaders attempted to appease him. They offered him the position of general of all the armies. Chummuck refused this. He demanded the Foremost to abdicate his rule. This so enraged the Foremost that he sprang at the Green Lantern, to no avail. Disgraced by a mere clerk, the Foremost chose to die, scattering his atoms in the dissolution chamber. - Green Lantern Vol. 2 #131/2

After taking control of his own world, Arkkis Chummuck set out to end the pointless war with Xanshi. A warfleet had already been deployed to attack Xanshi. Chummuck ordered the fleet back home, and went after the missiles they had launched.

The task was very difficult as he fought against the preprogrammed missiles, destroying every last one. He lost consciousness, plummeting to Xanshi. The friction of re-entry woke him for moments. Crashing, he claimed Xanshi by right of conquest.

He awoke once again in a shrine sacred to the people of Xanshi. They prayed for their conqueror who had risked everything to save them. When they returned to see the Green Lantern, he was gone. He had been summoned to Oa by the Guardians of the Universe. - Green Lantern Vol. 2 #132/2

On Oa, Green Lantern Malet Dasim charged a tribunal of Green Lanterns to cast out Arkkis Chummuck as a disgrace to the Green Lantern Corps. Dasim argued the defendant had used his power ring as a tool of conquest.

Arkkis Chummuck was defended by the deceased Green Lantern's nest-brother. He believed Chummuck's motives were honorable by acting to end the war that afflicted both worlds. - Green Lantern Vol. 2 #130/2

The result of the verdict would decide Arkkis Chummuck's fate: If he was found innocent, he would continue as a Green Lantern. If guilty, Arkkis Chummuck's code of honor would not allow him to live. - Green Lantern Vol. 2 #131/2

Many Green Lanterns attended the trial, including Chaselon, Stel, and Tomar-Re. After three hours of consideration, the tribunal reached its' decision: Arkkis would remain in the Corps, on a probationary basis. Furthermore, an advisor would be assigned to him. The advisor would be Malet Dasim. As time went by, Arkkis Chummuck became an honored member of the Green Lantern Corps. - Green Lantern Vol. 2 #130/2-132/2

Arkkis Chummuck had a great deal of respect for Hal Jordan of Earth, and finally met Jordan during the war against Krona and Nekron, Lord of the Unliving. Fighting Krona's undead army, Arkkis felt his foes had no honor, and would not eat those he had bested in combat, such as Gorokk. - Tales of the Green Lantern Corps #1-3

Later, he was in a task force of almost one hundred Green Lanterns to invade Qward to destroy the Anti-Green Lantern Corps. In the battle, he defeated St'nlli, the Qwardian leader of the Anti-Green Lantern Corps. Arkkis had disintegrated his Qwardian foe. - Green Lantern Vol. 2 #150

At one point in Chummuck's career, a being known as the Weapon Master had stolen a Green Lantern's power battery and used the stolen battery to tap into the Main Power Battery on Oa. After this was accomplished, he was able to control members of the Green Lantern Corps, through their power rings.

The Weapon Master then sold his services to the highest bidder in galactic space-wars. Various Green Lanterns, such as Arkkis Chummuck and Katma Tui were under his influence. Superman joined with Ranakar, one of the Guardians of the Universe, to defeat the Weapon Master. -DC Comics Presents #60

When Hal Jordan had considered leaving the Green Lantern Corps, Arkkis Chummuck was among many friends of Hal Jordan trying to convince the Green Lantern of Earth to stay in the Corps. Arkkis and other Green Lanterns were unsuccessful and Jordan left the Corps for a short time. - Green Lantern Vol. 2 #172, #181

Arkkis joined in battle against Maaldor, a creature imprisoned in a dimension beyond time. Maaldor had stolen the reserve energies of the Power Battery and kidnapped three Guardians. Across the universe, all save six Green Lanterns were powerless.

Tracking the three Guardians across the universe, Ch'p of H'lven and Arkkis Chummuck discovered their rings were charged, but would no longer respond to their will power. Joining with Arisia, Katma Tui, Tomar-Re, and Xax, they decided to pool their energies into one person.

Arkkis absorbed the emerald energy into his own body. He struggled with Maaldor, the very energy tearing them apart. In an emerald explosion, both combatants were gone.

Considered to have died in the line of duty, Arkkis Chummuck's body resided in the Crypts of the Green Lantern Corps, until Oa's destruction at the hands of Kyle Rayner. - Tales of the Green Lantern Corps Annual #1, Green Lantern Vol. 3 #0

With the Green Lantern Corps and Oa restored, the Crypts of the Green Lantern Corps has also returned.

BLACK LANTERN: ARKKIS CHUMUCK

During the event known as the Blackest Night, black rings desecrated the Crypts. The ring placed itself amidst his remains, downloaded his memories and created a duplicate of his body that rose from the grave as a member of the Black Lantern Corps. - Blackest Night #1

GLCWP NOTE

If my memory isn't playing tricks on me, there was to be a "Whatever Happened to Arkkis Chummuck?" story (I think by Gerard Jones) in the Green Lantern Corps Quarterly. At the time of his "death" there was no body recovered...at least until Guy Gardner: Reborn #3.
