Be here for the start of a new era for The Dark Knight from writer Scott Snyder (AMERICAN VAMPIRE, BATMAN: GATES OF GOTHAM) and artist Greg Capullo! A series of brutal killings hints at an ancient conspiracy, and Batman learns that Gotham City is deadlier than he ever knew.

Synopsis:

Batman battles multiple villains incarcerated in Arkham Asylum, set free within the gates of the Asylum to battle Batman by a corrupt prison guard Dan Matthews (a guard at Arkham; behind the scenes). Included in the attack against Batman are Clayface (Basil Karlo), Killer Croc, Mister Freeze, Mister Zsasz, Professor Pyg, Riddler, Scarecrow, Two-Face, and Sumo. Batman appears to free the Joker, who works with him. In fact it is Dick Grayson in disguise.

Later, Bruce and Dick attend a gala event sponsored by Wayne. Alfred Pennyworth, James Gordon, Tim Drake, Damian Wayne, Vicki Vale and Lincoln March also attend. Bruce announces his plans to revitalize the downtrodden areas of Gotham City. Bruce also uses new technology to access his Batcomputer through a contact lens. He overhears Gordon on the telephone commenting upon a new crime scene. Batman investigates, and is shown the details by Harvey Bullock. A man was stabbed multiple times and left to die. A warning indicates Bruce Wayne is next to die. DNA evidence indicates that the murderer was Dick Grayson.
