HISTORY

Bolphunga the Unrelenting was a creature of violence who had built a reputation from numerous fights he had won. Sadly, he was not as renowned for his intelligence. Bolphunga intended to beat the most feared and mysterious being of them all... the Green Lantern known as Mogo. The search for his quarry led him to an Earth type planet, devoid of any signs of intelligent life. Bolphunga called for the Green Lantern to face him. Receiving no response, he searched the planet for the Green Lantern.

Bolphunga's task was made all the more difficult by the fact that no one had any information as to what Mogo actually looked like. This would not stop him. Bolphunga spent years searching for the Green Lantern, examining plants, animals and insects, searching each for a power ring. He grew more methodical in his search, surveying and drawing maps of the terrain. Although Bolphunga could find no intelligent life, he noted the forests seemed to be groomed in strange patterns, with large tracts of open land.

One night, entirely frustrated by his search, Bolphunga spread the maps out in front of him. Placing the ends of the maps together, the strange patterns of the trees made out the symbol of the Green Lantern Corps. Bolphunga quickly realized the very planet he was standing on was the Green Lantern known as Mogo. For the first time ever, Bolphunga the Unrelenting... relented. He ran to his starship, took off, and has not been near Mogo since. - Green Lantern Vol. 2 #188

Many years later, Bolphunga was operating in and around the Vega system Sector 2828 with fellow bounty hunters Dag, Quade, Fatality, and the Burlls. At the time, they had a sworn agreement and were hunting Green Lanterns. It is not known who was offering a bounty on Green Lanterns, only that the hunters had been paying sources to watch for the ring wielders. At the time, they had only discovered the bodies of Green Lantern Tarkus Whin and Soranik Natu of Korugar. Unbeknownst to the hunters, Natu was not only alive, she was also a Green Lantern. - Green Lantern Corps: Recharge #3

When a contact advised there were three Green Lanterns in the Vega system, the hunters were eager to catch their prey. Green Lanterns Guy Gardner and Kyle Rayner of Earth had rescued Lantern Soranik Natu. Fatality was especially interested in Lantern Rayner for personal reasons. When the Green Lanterns had located other ring wielders and retreated into a Spider Guild nest, Bolphunga the Unrelenting and Fatality were willing to continue the pursuit. Dag, Quade, and the Burlls did not want to risk the wrath of the Spider Guild. Despite their efforts however, Bolphunga and Fatality would be no more successful than their fellow hunters outside the Spider Guild nest. The Green Lanterns managed to escape. - Green Lantern Corps: Recharge #3- #4

Bolphunga was next seen briefly on Earth. He and scores of other bounty hunters tried in vain to capture Green Lantern Hal Jordan for former Black Circle magnate Amon Sur. - Green Lantern Vol. 4 #12

The defeat in Vega weighed heavily on Bolphunga. He especially wanted revenge against Honor Lantern Guy Gardner, and spent months tracking his enemy. Finally, there came a day when Bolphugna was tipped off that Gardner was on shore leave on the planet Restoria in Sector 3241. Bolphugna got there as fast as he could. - Green Lantern Corps Vol. 2 #3

Gardner did not have his power ring, as he had checked it into the hotel safe. The hotel under-manager, Briff, was Bolphunga's paid informant. Expensive property damage ensued as Bolphunga pursued Gardner throughout the hotel, until his foe finally retrieved the power ring. Gardner did not have a chance to put it on when Administrator Lantern Salakk of Slyggia arrived and quickly stopped Bolphunga. The Green Lanterns of Sector 3241 arrived moments later. After Bolphunga paid off the damages, he was shipped back to Vega. He has not been heard from since. - Green Lantern Corps Vol. 2 #4- #5
