OVERVIEW

As his name suggests, the leader of the Brotherhood of Evil is a disembodied brain, belonging to a French scientific genius. He is generally seen in company with Monsieur Mallah, a genius ape.

HISTORY

The villain known as the Brain had once been a French researcher working on the evolution of animals. He has no relation to the first Brain, a villain from the early 1940s. His true name has been since lost to history, but his most notable experiment, the creation of Monsieur Mallah which involved raising the IQ of an ape to the level of a human genius, lives on. The Brain was a peer of Niles Caulder who was envious of his fellow scientist's work. Caulder allegedly triggered an explosion in the scientist's lab, obliterating his body. He had planned to place the surviving brain into a copper body that would later become the second Robotman but Mallah rescued the Brain from Caulder's lab.

-Teen Titans Vol. 3 #37

Though reduced to a disembodied brain in a vat of liquid, the Brain and Mallah created the Brotherhood of Evil, a criminal organization bent of conquering the world and revenge upon Caulder and his superhero group known as the Doom Patrol.

-Doom Patrol Vol. 1 #86

POWERS AND WEAPONS

:The Brain possesses a genius level IQ; demonstrating expertise in robotics, genetics and forced evolution on animals. As literally a brain, aside from the sporadic points he has been in either a robot of cloned body, he therefore has no known fighting skills.
