Synopsis:

After one of his wraith-robots kills the Green Lantern of Rolvac, the villainous Weapon-Master takes possession of the slain ring-wielder's power battery. He was then able to use the smaller battery to drain energy from the Central Power Battery on Oa. He used this energy in turn to recreate and fuel a Dabalyan Will-Paralyzer. Since the paralyzer was attuned to the emerald energy, a side-effect allowed the Weapon-Master mind control over several members of the Green Lantern Corps.

Learning of this, the Guardians of the Universe call upon Superman to fight the threat of the Weapon-Master. A lone Guardian, Ranakar, is sent to accompany Superman as the Oan had been responsible for monitoring the energy levels of the Central Battery but had failed.

The pair come under attack from the mind-controlled Lanterns and the Weapon-Master. Though the Man of Steel coats himself in a yellow mineral to combat the Lanterns, he is not immune to the Weapon-Master's kryptonite and is taken prisoner. Ranakar used the diversion of the battle to track down the solen battery power, but is struck down by the mind-controlled Katma Tui.

Ranakar wakes to find himself bound to the crystal holding the lantern energy while Superman is held in a cage of synthetic kryptonite formed by the will of the Green Lanterns. Unbeknownst to the Weapon-Master, Guardian Ranakar's will power dominated the controlled Green Lanterns, changing the "kryptonite" to ordinary energy, allowing Superman to escape. His own life energy being drained by the crystal, Ranakar is too weak to help the Man of Steel any further. Though bombarded with Q-energy from the Weapon-Master, Superman is able to gather enough strength to overcome his foe and destroy the crystal, releasing the hold over the Green Lanterns. Unwilling to face Superman and the Green Lantern Corps, the Weapon-Master escapes via teleporter.
