HISTORY

June Moone discovered a secret passage in Terror Castle which led her to the demon Dzamor. He told June that she was to become a magical defender and rid the world of evil. By saying the name Enchantress, June gained magical powers of flight, animation of inanimate objects, appearance alteration, and self-healing ability. She fought magical nemeses until she encountered Dzamor again. He told her that when an astral alignment took place, she would gain enough power to cleanse the Earth. This alignment was stopped when Power Girl moved the moon forward. The Enchantress persona snapped and turned to villainy, battling various heroes and eventually being imprisoned. Her jail sentence was dropped when she joined the Suicide Squad. Here she made a good friend in Eve Eden until the two of them were imprisoned in the same body and held a grudge. She was sacrificed by Faust, so that the fires of Hell would reignite.

Having been resurrected first as Anita Soulfeeda, seemingly a succubus and member of the mafia-like "Diablos", Anita was later revealed as the Enchantress. She once again reunited with her human persona June Moone, thereby creating the new magic entity known as the Soulsinger, and finally returning to her more usual self.

Enchantress was nearly killed when the Spectre went on a rampage in the Mist Forests, killing 700 sorcerers. She later joined the Shadowpact and fought the Spectre to a standstill with the help of Captain Marvel. She constantly has to battle to prevent her evil side taking over entirely, a battle that will never truly be over.

June Moone and Enchantress were once entirely separate beings, but after they merged to form Soulsinger, it appears that this is no longer the case, despite the return of the Enchantress identity.
