When Barry Allen was a child, his mother was killed by the Reverse-Flash. The police had no other evidence, so they arrested Henry Allen, Barry Allen's father. Darryl Frye took care of Barry until he was an adult. Barry became a forensic scientist at the C.C.P.D. He tried to find out who killed his mother and prove his father was innocent. One night when he was working, he was struck by lightning and pushed into chemicals. He woke up and found out he had super speed. He soon became the superhero known as the Flash.

After a spelling bee, Barry Allen goes to buy a comic. When he returns home, he sees police officers arrest his dad, and his mother dead. One police officer, Darryl Frye took care of Barry since he had nowhere else to go, with his mother dead and his father in prison. After Barry Allen became a forensic scientist at the Central City Police Department, he vowed that he would solve his mother's murder and free his father from prison. On the anniversary of his mother's death, lightning strikes through Barry's lab, pushing him into bottles of chemicals. He goes into a coma, with visits from a fellow worker at the C.C.P.D., James Forrest. He wakes up and finds out he has super speed and is the fastest man alive. Using his new powers, he become the Flash.

Mob Rule

On a date with Patty Spivot, a group called Mob Rule try to steal a portable genome re-coder created by Dr. Darwin Elias. Flash managed to stop the theft, but most of the group leaves. Patty finds the dead body of one of the members, a friend of Barry's named Manuel Lago. As Barry deals with his job at the C.C.P.D., he tries to figure out why Manuel was there. Unexpectedly, Manuel shows up at Barry's house asking Barry to help him. They run away from two men. Barry runs away to change into the Flash and returns to see Manuel with multiple people who look exactly like him. They tell Flash to wait for a phone call from Iris West. As Flash waits, the clones of Manuel leave. Barry gets the phone call and finds Iris, alive and okay. Flash visits Dr. Elias and he tells Barry that his body taps into the Speed Force, but his brain has yet to. Barry tries to have is brain tap into the speed force, and Patty tells him that "Manuel's" body is probably a clone and healed after he died.

Barry can tap into an energy field called the speed force that gives him super speed. Barry is the fastest man alive.
