Synopsis: - The JLA are under attack from the military superhumans, the Ultramarines, and are taken out one by one: Steel and Barda are taken down by attractor discs, Green Lantern is attacked by a sonic device, and Flash receives some shrapnel in his calf, meaning he can't run. Scanning the bodies of the Ultramarines, Superman, also injured, discovers that they are dying.
- Meanwhile, Batman, Huntress and Plastic Man break into a top secret military installation in Nevada, where they come across first General Eiling's dead body, and then his mind transferred into the 'immortal, invulnerable, unbeatable' body of the Shaggy Man.
