Synopsis:

The heroes of the Justice Society, with help from Doctor Mid-Nite's clinic's staff, battle the corpses on the streets of Portsmouth while Richard Craemer tries to help Hal Jordan understand his role as the Spectre and to embrace redemption completely. The Spirit King, in the body of the Flash, tries to kill Mister Terrific and Green Lantern, but is prevented from doing so, although he injures Terrific badly. Hal Jordan rejects redemption and embraces his identity as the Spectre, spirit of vengeance, condemning the corpses back to Hell and literally consuming the Spirit King. On the operating table, Mister Terrific has a near-death experience where he encounters his wife's spirit, and that of their unborn son. When he comes round, he has a new perspective on faith and joins Doctor Mid-Nite at church the next Sunday. Also, Hourman watches over Wendi Tyler and Batman warns the elder statesmen of the JSA that Hal Jordan has already been given a second chance several times, and this time he may be beyond their help.
