HISTORY

Liana was the Green Lantern of M'Elu. During a patrol of her sector, she came across a magnetic disturbance in the void between worlds. She tracked the disturbance to a planet she had never seen before.

The planet she found was filled with storms and lightning. The magnetic field was chaotic, threatening to tear the planet apart.

Investigating the inhabitants, a race of metallic based lifeforms, Liana was directed to a council of three. The leaders did not welcome outsiders to their planet. Liana showed them how their system of magnetic barriers was disrupting their planet's natural state. The walls were causing the deadly lightning to strike and kill the metallic people. Still, they wanted the Green Lantern to depart.

Despite being ordered not to interfere, Liana did not want the people to die. Unable to move each individual boundary, the Green Lantern moved the planet's magnetic poles so the two fields would not conflict.

Returning to the planet, the magnetic barriers had faded. No longer separated, the inhabitants were attacking each other. Liana appealed to one of the leaders, who blamed her for the wars. He once again ordered her to go.

Liana returned to Oa to report of her failure as a Green Lantern. She was stripped of her ring for twice violating her duties as a Green Lantern. First, by ignoring the express order not to tamper with the planet. Second, by causing a drastic change in their culture, which is against the code of the Green Lanterns. - Green Lantern Vol. 2 #162
