HISTORY

As the Green Lantern of Arden, Lodar Monak became a target of the Z'nang. In their quest to conquer the galaxy, the Green Lantern was considered a threat that needed to be eliminated.

Lodar had been returning from Oa after receiving permission by the Guardians of the Universe to train his son, Meeno Monak as a Green Lantern, when he was attacked.

Years ago, Lodar had appealed to the Guardians to do something about the Z'nang, when the H'od party was taking over their world. He had known it was just a matter of time before the Z'nang went out to conquer other worlds. The Z'nang had dispatched an armada of robot warriors to attack Arden and draw out the Green Lantern.

The robot warriors targeted Monak's house and his family. In rescuing his wife and son, Lodar Monak became an easy target. A yellow blast from an orbiting star cruiser disrupted the Green Lantern's power ring. Lodar was then fired upon by the ground units. His wife rushed to his aid, only to be cut down by the same units.

Before he fell, Lodar Monak destroyed the remaining ground units. Dying, he gave the power ring to his son. Meeno Monak was now the new Green Lantern of Arden. - Green Lantern Vol. 2 #170

Lodar Monak is memorialized in the Crypts of the Green Lantern Corps on Oa.
