Synopsis: - Trapped and weaponless on Apokolips, guarding the Star-Spangled Kid's lifeless body, the JSA have to await the Martian Manhunter, who brings their weapons and then has a brief duel with Kanto. Himon, one of the few good souls on Apokolips, aids the heroes by telling them of Darkseid's plan to invade the source using the young heroine's soul, and helps them to get to the site via a boom tube. Once there, they are attacked by a troupe of parademons, which Starman and Sentinel have to fend off while the others rescue their team-mate from the Source.
- When this is accomplished, J'onn makes a brief side-trip to visit Darkseid with a warning from the Source, also questioning the despot on his reasons for the continual attempts at conquest and domination. The answer: he believes that only his mind and his will are capable of bringing order to the chaos of the universe. He also indicates that he is aware of J'onn's activities, 'consoling' him over the death of Malefic.
