Synopsis:

Tybalt Bak'sar has destroyed the planet Zapher in revenge for injustices committed against his own race. He is brought before the Guardians of the Universe by Green Lantern Abin Sur, and is imprisoned on the Guardians' prison planet, only to be released and equipped with powerful weaponry by some Qwardians. Later, J'onn J'onnz hears news of a clash between extra-terrestrials occurring on Earth. Thinking it may be the Kryptonian, he investigates, discovering it is actually Sur and Bak'sar, the latter having been equipped with yellow energy weapons which are extremely effective against Green Lanterns.
J'onn is displeased to see a Green Lantern on Earth, for long ago the Martians had persuaded the Guardians to leave the protection of the Sol system to them. However, he takes sides in the fight when Tybalt Bak'sar threatens the life of Alan Scott, for whom J'onn has great respect. He is able to work with Abin Sur, gaining in doing so a newfound respect for the Green Lantern Corps, a respect which will contribute towards his later close friendships with Hal Jordan and Kyle Rayner.
