HISTORY
Rudy Jones was a janitor at S.T.A.R. Labs who believed that chemical dump runs were just a front for a hidden payroll. When he opened one, the contents - manipulated by Darkseid - transformed Jones into a human parasite, dependent on consuming vast amounts of energy to survive. As the Parasite, he started draining people of their life energy, which often ended with the death of the victims. Years later, in containment, the Parasite absorbed a scientist that was tending him, Doctor Torval Freeman, into its organism. Since Freeman was not a bad man, the Parasite now had constant inner moral conflicts, but also posed a more dangerous threat than before since Freeman’s intelligence made it a formidable foe. Still later, Doc Parasite absorbed a shape-shifter into the mix, gaining the ability to become a perfect duplicate of any victim. Using this ability, the Parasite impersonated Lois Lane for months, taking her appearance and memories to infiltrate the life of Superman. At the end of this encounter, the Parasite apparently died. His body was taken to S.T.A.R. Labs for examination. The Parasite fought several super-heroes in his villainous career, including Firestorm, Firehawk, Starman (V), the Suicide Squad (II), the JLI, Superboy, Supergirl, Steel (III), and Aztek. Although Superman was not his first adversary, he was the most frequent one. Parasite was briefly a member of the Superman Revenge Squad.
