Ray Terill joined the new Justice League of America led by Batman.

HISTORY

As a child, Ray Terrill was suffering a disease that made him allergic to most forms of light. He could still be under artificial light, but not for long. He had an isolated childhood, and was living with his mother up until his teenage years. His dad had the same disease and died when he went into light. On one of his birthdays, he had a friend come over, Caden Zapote. They played with a camera that flashed light and Ray's skin started to crack. All he could remember was shooting out light, any he didn't see Caden for years. Eventually when he became a teenager, he shaved the sides of his head and decided to finally leave after years of isolation. Luckily it was night so he went around the city. When a group of people meet him, his gets hit by light and explodes, freaking out the people. They thought he died, but Ray made himself invisible, with use of his newly found powers. For years of his life, he observed life around him and wondered why there was so much hate. He eventually finds Caden, running for mayor. He sees what he has done to Caden, with one of his eyes, not being able to see. A member of the Sons of Liberty disagrees with Caden and tries to kill him. Ray makes himself visible and fights off the enemy. He leaves as the people watch him, astonished.

Joining the JLA

He soon was recruited by Batman and the second Atom to join the Justice League of America. He was happy to join, but mainly surprised since he was in the early stages of his superhero career. His first mission on the team was to defeat the Extremists, mainly Dreamslayer. He ended up talking Dreamslayer out of controlling Kravia while the rest of the JLA fought Lord Havok.
Ray would continue to fight evil with the JLA, aiding them in taking down Nikos Aegeus and stopping his control of Penn City. One of Nikos's uncertain followers, Xenos moved into the Justice League Sanctuary as the JLA's technician and friend to Ray. He would also help the JLA fight the new villain Makson.
The Ray and the JLA go to Vanity after an evil entity, the Kingbutcher begins attacking people after their wishes come true. The Kingbutcher transports Ray and the JLA to Philadelphia, where he was born. The Ray is shocked to find out that her mother, Nadine Terill has wished for a new family. The JLA fight Kingbutcher, but Ray ends up defeating him and saving Philadelphia. Nadine tries to explain to Ray, but he leaves and heads back to the Sanctuary. Shortly after, Batman, Lobo, Killer Frost, and the Atom go to the Microverse to find Ray Palmer, while Ray and Xenos become closer. Ray and Black Canary end up fighting a new villain, Afterthought.

Leaving the JLA

After the rest of the JLA return from the Microverse, Batman leaves the team, deciding they are ready to help the world without his guiding. Under Vixen's leadership, she allows a man named John Porter to shoot a documentary on the Justice League of America. Unknown to the team, John Porter is Prometheus in disguise. Prometheus managed to convince Ray that he isn't of use to the team, and Ray leaves. He returns to his hometown of Vanity, Oregon and begins to fight crime.

POWERS AND WEAPONS

The Ray has the ability to fly as well as shoot light from his hands. He can also make light constructs and turn invisible.
