Synopsis:

The former building housing the Daily Planet is scheduled for demolition, as a new, modern location is unveiled. Mayor Rob Morrisroe, the Mayor of Metropolis, introduces Morgan Edge, President and C.E.O. of Galaxy Communications, the new owner of the Daily Planet. Edge quotes "I've come not to bury the Daily Planet, but to raise it". Lois Lane and Perry White are in attendance, but Clark Kent is absent since he does not approve of the acquisition by Edge's company. Edge announces that Galaxy Communications is changing its call letters to P.G.N., "the Planet Global Network". Lois will serve as Executive Producer of the Nightly News Division and Executive Vice-President of New Media. Controversial newsman William McCoy takes over from Lois as the anchor of the nightly news - a job turned down by Clark Kent. Perry interacts with his new publisher, Izzy Izquierdo, who promises to be "hands off" to allow Perry to report the news in print.

Meanwhile, an alien being blows a giant horn in the Himalayas, events echoing those investigated by Stormwatch.

At the new Metropolis Astrodome, two security guards Mack and Myer observe a series of small fires in the building that seem to disappear without a trace.

Photographer Jimmy Olsen, blogger Miko Ogawa, and cameraman Morrie; part of the "Action News Team", cover the demolition of the old Daily Planet building. They are sent to investigate when Superman follows a police helicopter and news helicopter both converging on a theft by two unnamed masked terrorists who have hijacked a tanker truck filled with hazardous chemicals. Superman lifts the truck into the air, and is dealing with the criminals when the tank explodes.

Observers learn that the explosion was caused by an alien fire creature originating from the Astrodome. Superman battles the monster, who appears to turn objects into fire, as opposed to catching the objects on fire. He eventually lifts the creature into space, depriving it of oxygen. Lois makes the controversial decision to remove her news team from danger at the scene, but also has Jimmy and Miko hack into a security camera on a nearby roof in order to allow some coverage of the events. Clark Kent also provides a detailed report of the scene for the print edition of the Daily Planet, to the surprise of his colleagues. Lois covers for Jimmy and Miko with Lt. Casey of the Metropolis Police Department. Clark goes to visit Lois at her apartment, and is introduced to her new boyfriend, Jonathan Carroll.
