The Original Universe

Official Name: Time Trapper's Pocket Universe
Prominent Inhabitants: Superboy, Supergirl, General Zod, Quex-Ul, Zaora
First Appearance: Action Comics #591 (August 1987): "Past Imperfect"
Creators: John Byrne

The Pre-Zero Hour version of the Time Trapper once stole one single instant-long "slice" of the universe and made it his own. He exterminated all inhabited worlds except Earth and Krypton, grooming his own Earth with his own Superboy, as a means to manipulate his foes, the Legion of Super-Heroes, who made this Superboy a member. Eventually, the real Superman (who had never been called Superboy) and the Legion thwarted the Trapper's plans.

Later, General Zod, Zaora and Quex-Ul, three villains from this universe's Krypton escaped from the Phantom Zone and destroyed every man, woman and child on Earth. A resistance movement led by the world's Lex Luthor, and Luthor's creation of a synthetic Supergirl was not enough to stop them. Superman avenged the entire planet by executing the three villains with kryptonite. The only living reminder of this universe was Supergirl, who Superman brought back to his own Earth.

This version of the Time Trapper was destroyed during Zero Hour and "never was" in the timeline that came after, but the "Pocket Universe" he created is still there. Superman remembers his travel to the parallel world and his execution of the Phantom Zone Villains, and the Matrix version of Supergirl still originated there.
