Template Comic is blank. -z

All the template coding is there but you're right that an explanation of how the template works might be in order.--Tenzel Kim (talk) 17:41, 20 October 2020 (UTC)

What is the best way to handle characters that have gone through multiple identies, such as Bart Allen, Impulse, Kid Flash II, Flash IV (or is it V with John Fox around, back to Kid Flash?

A redirect page is to be created for each identity that links to the current one. Impulse (Bart Allen) -> Kid Flash (Bart Allen) and Flash (Bart Allen) -> Kid Flash (Bart Allen) for instance. I will remember to add something about this when updating the manual on characters. In general characters should be added as they were named at the time of the issue so in Impulse, Bart Allen should be listed as Impulse (Bart Allen) and not Kid Flash. Of course, as with everything else there are exceptions. If the character only appears a couple of times in regular id (Bart Allen) for instance before taking on a superhero/villain identity use the superhero/villain name for the link like this [[Impulse (Bart Allen) | Bart Allen]]. Same format should be used if Impulse appears as Bart Allen only in a story during his time as Impulse. --Tenzel Kim 08:08, 23 September 2010 (UTC)

For characters that only have a costumed identity, how are they best handled? There's been five Lady Libertys, four of which have been attached to some form of the Force of July, but the original (that I've found) is the mother of Merryman... I don't have a profile for her, but right now Merryman is linked to the wrong Lady Liberty. I'm not sure how to fix this without repairing all the other links to different Lady Libertys. Thanks. --DRMOUSE2814 01:20, 23 September 2010 (UTC)

I would say that they would all have to be renamed and all the links repaired, unless you can convince a creator to give Merryman's mother a name in a story somewhere. Another option would be to name some of these characters based on the group they belong to, so that we'd have "Lady Liberty (Force of July)" for instance but with more of those I'm not sure if that would be a big help. Anybody got some suggestions?--Tenzel Kim 08:08, 23 September 2010 (UTC)
Merryman's mother btw would have the last name Victor at least, being the wife of the Patriot and daughter-in-law of Yellowjacket (Reed Victor)--Tenzel Kim 08:28, 23 September 2010 (UTC)

Sorry, one more... What's the best way to handle 21st Century characters, introduced in the present, who have the same name as a 30th Century character, introduced in the 70s? (to make it stickier, no secret IDs given) :) --DRMOUSE2814 01:23, 23 September 2010 (UTC)

Such as? Most of the 30th Century characters had secret id's given (as far as I recall). Anyway, the way we handle the characters is to number them by historical appearance, not publication appearance, meaning that if we have a 20th/21st century character with the same name as a 30th century one the 30th century character comes last even if he/she appeared in a comic before the other. Can be a bitch when it comes to characters without a secret identity as it might cause a number of fixes to be made.--Tenzel Kim 08:08, 23 September 2010 (UTC)
