The flashback includes scenes from Richard Dragon, Kung-Fu Fighter #9 and Richard Dragon, Kung-Fu Fighter #16. However, Shiva's first meeting with Richard Dragon and Ben Turner happen in a completely different way that in the original stories, and Carolyn is present during the fight against the Prying Mantis, which originally took place after her death. The discrepancies have to be attributed to one of the reality-changing events that have taken place since Richard Dragon, Kung-Fu Fighter.
