Could there be sub-categories as to what each index needs to be finished? Credits? Characters? Character Chronologies (a LOT of these)? Locations? Reprint info? Thanks in advance!

I'd say characters and credits are most critical for an index to be considered complete. The {{???}} creates the Chronology Incomplete category so that part's covered. I'll admit I'm not the best with chronologies, especially with the New 52 to present.
As we've been getting more experienced with indexing we've added features such as Locations, Reprint info, Solicitations, Release Dates. I haven't done any older issues for a while, though I'll now try to include this info where possible. Likewise, when working some updates I'll add what I can, if the information's available or I'm re-reading the issue.
I don't know if you'd want to flag issues for those additional items. Certainly no objection from me and I'd be glad to fill in the blanks when I can. I've only done so when I'm working it like a mini-project like trying to get pics for all the planets or what-not.--DRMOUSE2814 (talk) 04:24, 9 October 2025 (UTC)
Some of it would be easy to automate, such as missing release dates, solicitations, and locations as those will always be relevant. Credits and characters is harder. Not all creator roles are relevant for any given story and the same goes for characters (sometimes the feature character does not appear in his/her own book). Likewise we don't know if reprint info is relevant unless we know whether or not a book has actually been reprinted.
That said I wouldn't mind if we got more specific when creating new issues if we knew something was missing.
Here are the ones that happen automatically:
Indexes:
Profiles:
Categories to be added manually if an issue isn't completely indexed.
- Category:Incomplete_Indexes - Add [[Category:Incomplete_Indexes]] at the bottom of the page
Any others that we should add? Would it be a good idea to add any of the following automated ones?
Indexes:
- Category:Release Date Missing
- Category:Cover Date Missing
- Category:Title Index Missing
- Category:Locations Missing
- Category:Solicitation Missing
Chronologies/Profiles:
And if so, should this be the names we go for or should it be something else?
Also, are there any other manual categories you'd like such as:
I'm open for adding more, but if we do we should try to remember to add the manual ones so that we don't have a lot of non-completed indexes without the [[Category:Incomplete_Indexes]] tag for instance. We could add the manual ones somewhere so it would be easy to see what we have named them.--Tenzel Kim (talk) 17:19, 9 October 2025 (UTC)
I'm not so sure on Story Creators or Reprint Info. For creators, it might never be known. We've got some Golden Age stories where we've lucky one creator was attributed. For Reprint info, I'm sure the majority of the more recent comics get reprinted but the older stuff, not so much. I'll keep an eye out for the Lantern books, but other than that it's got to be a book I'm working on and am motivated enough to hit the GCD for information to update. The other categories sound great - sometimes yeah, I'd just like putz around and add all the release dates for a series. (I'm strange that way)--DRMOUSE2814 (talk) 22:03, 9 October 2025 (UTC)
- Speaking of release dates, I have been using Mike's Amazing World rather than the Grand Comics Database as his research on this seems a lot more thorough and from what I've been able to tell it fits the actual dates used in the old DC Direct Currents and whatever else they were called for the most part, except where there were known delays.--Tenzel Kim (talk) 12:53, 12 October 2025 (UTC)
