HISTORY
Following the successful empowerment of the Red Lantern Vladimir Sokov, the Soviet government clandestinely continued its experimentation with the Crimson Flame. These efforts culminated in the Crimson Host, an elite strike team of Soviet operatives endowed with diverse abilities derived from the Flame’s volatile energy.[1]
Their only recorded mission took place one night between late 1940 and early 1941, during an assault on their predecessor in New York City. This sparked a direct confrontation with Green Lantern Alan Scott and his comrades in the Justice Society of America. The Host successfully crushed the power battery required to sustain Sokov’s life, seemingly neutralizing their target. However, the Host catastrophically underestimated their quarry as a resurgent Sokov used his Red Lantern ring to incinerate the Crimson Host, leaving no survivors.[2]
The Soviet government continued to expand its superhuman initiatives in World War II with the development of Stalinvolk[3]. In later decades, these efforts broadened into the creation of Starfire (later renamed Red Star)[4] and the Rocket Red Brigade.[5]
