HISTORY

Ghan IX is a terrestrial planet defined by a state of perpetual warfare. Originally a world consumed by localized civil strife, the intervention of an off-world race known as the Yuevers transformed the conflict into an unending cycle of violence. The Yuevers arrived with the stated intent of quelling native hostilities, however, despite possessing superior technology, they were unable to secure a swift victory. The indigenous Ghanites proved to be a resilient insurgent force, leading to a prolonged war of attrition. As the occupation lengthened, both sides engaged in escalating brutalities, deepening the global culture of hatred and rage.

During the ongoing conflict, a Yuever aerial strike resulted in the deaths of two Ghanite children, Arkkon and Zo. The loss of her siblings triggered a massive surge of rage in their surviving sister, Rixx. This emotional spike was powerful enough to resonate across the emotional electromagnetic spectrum, drawing the attention of Atrocitus, leader of the Red Lantern Corps.

Atrocitus arrived on Ghan IX and killed the Yuever pilots responsible for the strike. Though he initially considered bringing Rixx back to Ysmault to join the Red Lanterns, the child’s rage was overtaken by fear upon his grip. When Rixx fled from him, Atrocitus chose to depart the planet, later reflecting on the nature of his mission and whether the Red Lanterns were bringing true justice or merely more blood to the universe.
