HISTORY

The planet Joween in Sector 563 served as a notorious hub for deep-space smuggling operations. Months after the disappearance of the Green Lantern Corps, Green Lantern Hal Jordan arrived on the planet to extract intelligence from the resident criminal element. During Jordan's interrogation of the smugglers, a massive universal spike in fear rippled through the emotional spectrum. This surge temporarily incapacitated Jordan, creating a window of opportunity for the criminals. The smugglers summoned Maash and Slushh of the Sinestro Corps. The smugglers' decision to ally with the Yellow Lanterns proved fatal. Rather than a reward, Maash immediately slaughtered the smugglers, viewing the criminals as insignificant.

Once Hal Jordan recovered from the fear spike, a violent skirmish erupted. The ensuing battle between Jordan and the two Sinestro Corps members resulted in the destruction of the smugglers' base. The conflict only ended when Sinestro issued a tactical retreat order, commanding Maash and Slushh to fallback to the planet Chall'enn.
