HISTORY

The Krystayl Warrior was an ancient biological weapon of mass destruction originating from the planet Krystayl. A sentient entity composed entirely of living crystal, it was designed with one purpose: the eradication of opposition through the absorption of carbon-based lifeforms.

Millennia ago, the Krystayl Warrior became a significant threat, necessitating the intervention of the Green Lantern Corps. While the Corps succeeded in shattering the entity into thousands of shards, it was at the cost of the Krystayl Warrior's victims.[1]

Over the centuries, one shard drifted to Earth. It was first found by a young boy in Star City named Donnie Weems.[2] Drawn to its mesmerizing, crystalline beauty, Donnie unknowingly triggered the shard’s latent power, destroying his school and awakening its programming.[3]

The shard was subsequently handled by a passerby known as Mr. Forbes. Despite the war it was designed for being long over, upon contact, the shard’s aggressive biological programming took hold, immediately enveloping Forbes' right arm in living crystal. The threat was monitored by the Guardians of the Universe on Oa.[4]

Seeking emergency medical attention, Mr. Forbes arrived at Star City General Hospital. The crystal, sensing a high density of carbon-based life, began an exponential expansion. It moved beyond Mr. Forbes, actively absorbing the medical staff and converting their biological mass into its own crystalline structure.[5]

As Green Lantern Hal Jordan had been forbidden to return to Earth, the Guardians called upon reserve Green Lantern John Stewart and assistance from Green Arrow. The Krystal Warrior was now several stories tall and growing larger. Though the heroes sought to end the threat, they refused to do so at the cost of hundreds of Star City citizens. Working together, they identified a singular stress point within the crystalline structure that held the entire mass together.

Green Arrow launched a perfectly aimed shot. The precision of the arrow, combined with the specific frequency of the impact on the stress point, caused the Krystayl Warrior to undergo a catastrophic structural failure. Instead of exploding, the entity shattered cleanly, safely releasing its captives from the crystalline prison.

Following the collapse of the warrior, John Stewart used his ring to gather every remaining shard which were presumably transported to Oa for permanent containment or destruction. Since this encounter, the Krystayl Warrior has not resurfaced.[6]

POWERS AND WEAPONS

The Krystayl Warrior could absorb carbon based life form by mere physical contact. In a flash of energy their mass would be added to the warrior causing it to grow exponentially. The Krystal Warrior does not appear affected by the rigors of deep space and does not need any sustenance. Its maximum potential size is unknown.
