HISTORY

Rance Rideout was a test pilot briefly employed with Ferris Aircraft. He was present at Ferris Aircraft when General Fabrikant manipulated Carol Ferris into becoming Star Sapphire again. Rideout’s professional reputation was marred by his tendency toward reckless flying. After being publicly chastised by Hal Jordan for his dangerous maneuvers, a disgruntled and intoxicated Rideout later confronted Jordan.[1]

Rideout would later join Jordan in Modora as the villain Sonar had legally purchased "Missile Catcher" jets from Ferris Aircraft. Under the terms of the sales contract, Ferris Aircraft was required to provide training for the Modoran pilots. Rideout and Hal Jordan were sent to Modora to fulfill this contractual obligation. This earned the American pilots medals from the Modoran government.[2]

Rideout’s career trajectory after the Modora sale remains largely undocumented. His final mention involved a prototype survival suit developed by Ferris Aircraft. Although Rideout was originally slated to test the equipment, the task was ultimately performed by Hal Jordan.[3]
