HISTORY

The Shepherd was one of several attendees of Volgar Zo's black market auction for the shrunken planet Earth. Taking the appearance of a towering, benevolent, god-like figure, the Shepherd successfully secured the winning bid for Earth. His first and final offer of ten thousand jilli-stellars outbid the Dominators' offer five times over.

While the auction was raided by the Green Lantern Corps, Earth's own Green Lantern Hal Jordan pursued the Shepherd, arresting the entity for planet-trafficking. The Shepherd used his divine appearance to project an aura of salvation to the human population, claiming he rescued doomed worlds, taking them to his space sanctuary for safekeeping. Earth's human population had been placed in a Gamma Gong induced malaise, similar to drunkenness and did not recognize the threat of the Shepherd.

In truth, the Shepherd was predatory, planet-consuming Terravore from the Urma-Annexate intent on fattening up the world's population over the course of one thousand years for their ultimate slaughter. Following a brief conflict, Jordan successfully secured Earth and ensured its safe return. The Shepherd has not been seen since.
