HISTORY

Cara Yat was the wife of Senator Diro Yat of Daxam and mother of their son Sodam Yat. The Daxamites were isolationists to the point of xenophobia. Finding their son had befriended the alien Tessog, the elder Yats had Tessog captured, killed and displayed as a threat against their world. Although Sodam was sent for psychological reprogramming, the trauma only alienated him further from his parents and his culture. He eventually planned to escape using the remains of Tessog’s crashed starship, but his destiny changed when he was chosen to join the Green Lantern Corps.[1]

As fate would have it, a genuine threat arrived when the conqueror Mongul seized Daxam as a new base for the Sinestro Corps. Desperate, Cara and Diro sought to find their son and bring him home to defend them. Using the very ship Sodam had once built, Cara tracked him to Sector 2815. However, her arrival was disastrous: the ship crashed into a Green Lantern Sector House, accidentally killing the imprisoned Sinestro Corps member Imecsub.[2]

Driven by a bitter hatred for his upbringing, Sodam Yat initially refused his mother's plea for aid. He only agreed to intervene after fellow Lantern Arisia Rrab stepped in, and even then, he demanded a humiliating concession: his mother had to apologize to a projection of Tessog and acknowledge him as her savior. Her pride wounded, Cara Yat was ushered off to Oa against her will while the two Lanterns departed for Daxam.[3]

It is presumed Cara Yat was eventually returned to Daxam as her current state is unknown.
